A friend had this little 'un turn up on her doorstep in Hinton Road, Herne Hill, this evening, miaowing and seemingly very distressed though not physically harmed. She's taken it in for the night and will take it to a vet/RSPCA tomorrow morning to see if it has a chip, but if you know him/her let me know - will be out from early morning tomorrow so best to text me on 07412997226.

Cheers,

Rendel

We still haven't had any luck reuniting this cat with its owners. We've put a message on herne hill forum but I don't get the impression people at that people look at that site much.

So if anyone knows a family on herne hill road SE24 with a missing Tabby Cat (we think called Maximus) then please ask them to call 0741 299 7226 Thanks

We've managed to get in touch with the owners and they're on their way to pick up "Maximus" as I write, so a happy ending! Huge thanks to Sarah of this forum who alerted me to the missing notice on the Herne Hill forum and texted me a poster from HH station with the owners' number on, you've been instrumental in making sure they're back together in time for Christmas.

Maximus had been missing since December 11th I believe yet turned up on a street adjoining his own, so may well have been shut in somewhere - a timely reminder that cats will creep in sheds, garages etc for warmth, so do please give them a once over before locking up, especially if you're going away over Christmas!

    • Hi Merry Christmas no joy with that Paul Hackett email thanks
    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
