Car mechanic / garage recommendations

Can anyone recommend a car mechanic or garage they've used? It's the first time we've had a car so we don't have a clue what we're doing and don't want to get ripped off.

Hi,

If you still need a garage I can thoroughly recommend Paul and Reg at the Dulwich Test and Service Centre. I have been going there for many years. They are always positive, thorough, polite and reasonably priced. They always explain everything clearly and give options where possible.
