Redundant water tank removal

We have a redundant water tank slap bang in the middle of our loft and would like to get rid of it. Our plumber painted a gloomy picture of how difficult it would be to her rid of or to find someone happy to deal with it (he wasn't).

Has anyone had it done and could give us any pointers?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
