Hello forum!

I've recently taken over as coordinator of the lovely NCT's Bumps&Babes group, which is held from 10-12 on Mondays at Goose Green community centre, for ladies with bumps, and for parents with babes aged up to 18 months. It's a lovely group, and has stopped me and Baby Baldock from going insane on more than one occasion. It's run by volunteers, and we currently have 8 of us...however, we are in need of more! Volunteers host in teams of two, typically once a month or so at the moment.

If anyone is interested in volunteering, or is wondering what it involves, do send me a PM or e-mail me directly on [email protected]

Hi Ruth,

I'm running the NCT Early Days Postnatal Course at the Goose Green Centre starting in January.

It will be on Monday afternoons from 1.30-3.30p.m. If any of your group would like to come please could you get them to contact Alison on [email protected]? Thanks. There's posters going up in East Dulwich with details on or people can get more info on the nct website.

Mollie

Another 'cry' for help! More of my volunteers have had to reluctantly leave the group!

Some more information about what volunteering involves: Hosts arrive at Goose Green Community Centre at 9.45ish, to set up. This involves putting toys and mats down, setting up a table for the refreshments and donations and flyers, making said refreshments (i always delegate this bit of hosting, my teas are AWFUL). At the end, we do the whole thing in reverse. And thats it! Very easy, and you get to meet lots of Mums and babies. I always come away from sessions feeling a lot more positive and less like I am going to break Baby Baldock in the next 5 days or so; it's a lovely way to start the week.

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
