PENNY & TOYAN CHILDMINDERS VACANCY AVAILABLE

Recommended Posts

Penny and Toyan have looked after our daughter for the last two years - and before that cared for our son. Both children loved being with them and were made to feel at home from day one. They were both little (under one) when they began so it was really important for us to find a safe, happy and most importantly loving home environment. Penny and her daughter Toyan helped us through all the developmental stages (solids, crawling/walking, potty-training etc) and kept the children stimulated and entertained with regular activities both in and out of their home - trips to the park, playgroups, fruit-picking etc. They are 100 per cent reliable and also flexible - both really important as we have busy jobs of our own. The children were always well cared for and well fed! We are sad to be leaving but our daughter is now moving to a nursery. However, we could not recommend Penny and Toyan more highly - they have helped us to give both children a fantastic start in life that I know will stand them in good stead for years to come. I'd be very happy to speak over the phone if you want a personal reference or have any questions - just PM me.
Penny and Toyan have cared for my daughter for the past year. My daughter was a shy child so it was essential for me to find an environment that was both supportive and caring. Penny and Toyan have both provided my daughter with all the encouragement and support needed to develop her social skills and confidence. The children are taken out every day to groups and they have attended various places of interest including the farm and strawberry picking. Regular pieces of arts and crafts are presented to you on collection of your child. The communication between Penny, Toyan and myself has been brilliant with regular pictures sent to me, a written daily diary and regular talks. They are always available to answer any questions about how your child is during the day, and to give advice on issues such as potty training. Healthy nutritious meals are always provided which my daughter greatly enjoys. The environment is like home from home, warm and caring. I would be happy to answer any further questions and to give a reference, please PM me.

My daughter started with Nanny Penny and Toyan 18 months ago when she was just 1 and my son started last October as he turned 1. They have both thrived there. There is a great settling-in process to allow the children to get used to Nanny Penny and Toyan and to their home environment. They are very experienced and provide a really good combination of playgroup (in the mornings) and home settings (in the afternoon) which is the best of both worlds in my view allowing the kids to spend time playing in larger groups with their peers but also with the dedicated small-group care element. They also eat amazingly (I am always jealous of their menu) - all home-cooked food.

It is a really loving, child-focused, family environment but at the same time making sure the children are polite and learn good manners (hands on mouth for coughing, saying sorry etc) which is exactly what I was looking for. They read lots of books and do music activities, art and so on.

Very happy to answer any questions on message or by phone - please PM me.

Penny and Toyan have looked after my twins for the past 15 months soon after they turned one and have gone from strength to strength under their care. The twins quickly formed a strong bond with them and from their very first day with them, they were excited and happy to be left with them which was a great relief to me on my return from maternity.

They provide the children with a stimulating, fun and loving family environment with loads of activities. Their daily outings to play groups is an abolsute must for my two as they love being out and about. They also organise other activities such as craft sessions, park walks, visits to wild life gardens and farms so they're never bored and very well socialised with many of their peers. Reading also forms a big part of their day and helped nurture my little ones love of books.

The food is amazing - freshly prepared every day and super nutritious and they absolutely love it.

They also have been very supportive to me providing me with helpful advise and tips which I have greatly appreciated. I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed (and stressed) when I started the whole process of searching for childcare and feel very fortunate and thankful I've found Penny and Toyan - they have been wonderful for my little ones and me. If you have any questions or would like a chat over phone or email, please pm me.

    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
    • This is very true. For some people, not even just the elderly, their pet/s may be their most important companion.
