Balance Bikers - advice please

Am thinking of getting my daughter one for her third birthday.

Has anyone got any advice on them ? wooden v metal ? I know some have brakes some don't. Any makes better than others ?

Any info gratefully received to get me on the right track

Not much advice really, just to say they are great. My son has an old wooden one, which still works fine, though I imagine the metal ones would too. The only other thing to consider is that Balfe's bikes (and no doubt others) will take the pedals off their normal bikes and then put them back on when you're ready for pedals.

We are using a balance bike called First Bike for our 2 year old. Not wooden made of glass alloy. All we can say is absolutely brilliant!! Bought ours from starterbikes.co.uk.

thanks for the postings - certainly pointed me in the right direction. Hadn't thought about taking off the pedals - so will look into that option too.
