I do use Gmail for one of my accounts and my other (Main Account) is btinternet..

Logging in to Google to access gmail is a pain.

Windows Live Mail is a mail client that gives access to all mail accounts in one place.

I am now trialing Mailbird but have lost all my contacts and saved mails with WLM going down.

I can still log on to Outlook and send a mail but my in box only has 2 mails in it from 2009. ?

Although I see my contacts when I type in the To: box

I am confused and need to export/ import to Mailbird.

I should be able to make a .CSV file but Mailbird needs a further process to use .CSV

I do not have the time today as I'm off to Millwall to see them beat Watford (Hopefully)

Ah. When you attached to Hotmail with a separate app (like Windows Live Mail) you generally use one of two protocols: IMAP or POP3. Sounds like WLM must have used POP3, as that protocol moves emails onto the local machine, whereas IMAP doesn't.

So, it sounds like all you emails will be in a local file somewhere on your machine. You'll need to open that file somehow and get the emails back onto hotmail/outlook via your new program, if indeed it allows you to do that.

Suggest you use IMAP-supporting software in future, to keep your emails on the hotmail/outlook cloud.

Root around for a folder such as C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. This article also mentions some variety of deleted WLM folders. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-email/how-can-i-restore-my-pop3-mail-folders-which-were/07ad9f56-1138-4805-acaf-ae1f589bfc45

    • Hi everyone, I'm Gen, a catsitter based in Sydenham - if you're away this summer and need some care for your pets, please do consider me!  I can typically cover Sydenham, Forest Hill, Penge, Anerley, Crystal Palace, East Dulwich and parts of Peckham. If it's outside those areas, it still might be worth messaging me to see if I can help. I'm registered with Cat in a Flat, with flawless reviews – I'm happy to accept clients through there, or just directly (you can just DM me on the forum here) - whichever you're more comfortable with. I've been catsitting for a few years, and also used to volunteer for Celia Hammond. Here's my profile https://catinaflat.co.uk/pet-sitter/377081 Ping me a message if you need help or have any questions!
    • And we humans bear a lot of responsibility for creating the conditions that brought foxes into urban settings. I certainly don't regard them as pests - they are noisy little criminals, but I'm very fond of them (we have huge numbers of them in my area - I rescued a lost baby fox earlier this year). However, there are pest control companies that use humane methods to deter them and redirect them to different territories (a friend of mine works for one, but sadly for OP, I don't think this is in their catchment area).
    • Please don't call them "pests". They are animals who have as much right to be here as we do. Which doesn't mean we can't use humane ways to keep them off our crops, like fruit cages and netting.
