Gipsy Hill
Community Road Watch is a locally driven initiative for members of the local community. They join together with the support of their local Police Road Safety teams, to monitor speeds of vehicles using speed detection devices. Vehicles exceeding the speed limit are referred to the Police with the aim of educating drivers to reduce their speeds. All patrols have Police team members present.Volunteers are trained on the day by Police in using the speed detection device, and they help take down vehicle details, Car reg, model and colour, speed. All volunteers have hi vis to wear. Volunteers also have local knowledge about what local roads and sites and times of day to monitor, to inform future patrols.Registered keepers of vehicles that exceed the speed limit threshold are contacted/sent letters advising them of the speed that the vehicle was driven at with the aim of educating them, changing their behaviour and reducing their speed. I've always found patrols friendly and very useful. It gives the local community the evidence on speed issues.Francis Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/140239-local-police-road-watch-volunteers-welcome/#findComment-1098313 Share on other sites
