Plough Cafe

Inbetweener

Recommended Posts

Due to necessity, of it being the only caf? near to wear I work, I sometimes have lunch here.

To be honest, it does a job...it fills a hole, no more, no less.

I find the staff are just that...staff. They don't seem welcoming, more going through the motions.

But today, I got annoyed. I ordered my food, and then the wrong plate came up, seems someone else was happily tucking into my food; where they readily 'accidentally' took the extra food on the plate, well who wouldn't, eh?

I accept the fact mistakes are made, these things happen. However, they then came back with what I'd ordered, EXCEPT it wasn't what I'd ordered. They got it wrong again! Which meant an even longer wait.

Again, these things happen...but worst of all, no single apology. And things like that piss me off.

I'm sure business will continue to be booming for them, as they're the only traditional greasy spoon type caf? up at The Plough...but they've lost me as a customer.

    • Hi Hugo, do you happen to live round here? There are loads of VWs with missing front badges once you start looking for them. If you left a note under the windscreen wiper of each one you see with the above message I'm sure someone would be interested in discussing this with you.
    • well they are all very nice and definitely helpful to me.
    • Can't agree with this, some of them appear totally gormless and can't even look you in the eye or say a word when asked a straightforward question about the membership card at the till. The only cheerful person in there is Tom and he'll proactively talk to anyone about anything. That guy deserves more.
    • The person behind the till won't know about whether or not an assignment of their lease has been purchased by a company like Tesco.  Poundland was sold for a nominal fee so it's unsurprising that the location may close soon. As well, for what it's worth, someone working in the shop is likely to have their job impacted by the shop closing, so having loads of people going and asking them about the potential closing of their shop isn't really nice. "Hey, hear you'll be out of a job soon. Know much about that?" The best resource you all should be using for queries about planning details of new shops is the council's website. As was stated on the first page of this post, there's an application lodged for multiple changes at 29-35 Lordship Lane with the client as Tesco. They wouldn't lodge these plans unless it was happening, or at least extremely likely to happen.    The application is on the council's website here: https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=SVW246KBKF500&activeTab=summary
