Phil is one half of folk supergroup Show Of Hands and is much in demand as a multi-instrumentalist and producer. He has been described by the Guardian as ?where Steve Earle and Richard Thompson collide?. He was nominated for the coveted Musician of the Year title in the 2009 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. He is perhaps best known as a top-flight fiddler, but his skills don?t stop there: he also plays slide, Spanish and tenor guitars, mandocello, viola, mandolin and South American cuatro, not to mention contributing his rich and remarkable vocals.

Sumner Anderson are Rob Anderson & Anne Sumner they formed a partnership in early 2016. Both were singer-songwriters in their own right, and regulars on the London open mic circuit. A chance conversation led them to a musical experiment, the results of which have been as surprising as they are irresistible.

Their backgrounds couldn?t be more different. Anne grew up in ?80s and ?90s south-east England, was raised at the piano, writing songs through her teens but only taking up the guitar much later in a bid to expand her songwriting and performing potential. Rob has been playing guitar for over 40 years, influenced by his US west-coast upbringing, always returning to his American country folk roots. He?s collaborated with singer-songwriters from Oregon to Oval, and began writing his own material while fronting The Wayne Drury Project in 2011. With virtually no common musical influences, it?s a combination that, on paper shouldn?t work ? and yet onlookers have consistently and enthusiastically agreed that it does.

Rosewood sing and play traditional and contemporary songs and instrumentals, some of which they have written themselves. Their unique features are the range of their source material and the array of instruments they play. These include bandoneon, footbass, hammered dulcimer, bagpipes, bouzouki, and deskbells. Two members of Rosewood were previously in Crownstreet, who you may have heard of.

    • I completely agree with you . Its as if they have their foot in the door and are just pushing and pushing. It's ridiculous. It's not the right space. they clearly do not give any regard to the environment or they would move it.
    • There's a great badminton club at the Harris girls academy. It runs Friday from 5.30 to 6.45. for more experienced players, they have sessions on Wednesday and Friday, too but that's subject to skill levels
    • There seem to be all sorts of blocks for this event being mounted on the Common, one is that it was 'designed especially' for the current site, though the organisers seem to have had absolutely no problem rejigging their plans to the original site footprint to expand the event to what we had last year- which I think really imposed on a large part of the park and spoilt the feel. I would suggest pressing very hard for relocation to the Common ( also closer to transport links). There must be a way, surely? If not, then wholesale relocation to a more suitable venue. I just do not think the park should be subjected to a festival-goer footfall of 60,000 plus over the summer.
    • I absolutely will. Fed up of property developments that are funded from offshore investors and price out local people. Fed up of the demise of social rents and the growing crisis of families in bed and breakfast. Fed up of young people being unable to save deposits, start families and generally have the same security of tenure that previous generations had. So yes, I will drill down into the financing, affordability, where the properties aer being advertised for sale, and how many are genuinely for social rent. Otherwise, no opposition to redeveloping that site in that way.
