It rained all evening and in those days the away end was uncovered, we lost 6-0 on their plastic pitch and I wasn't poplar at home. That wasn't a great Valentine's Day. siousxiesue
A few days ago I warned the new person in my life that I categorically don't do V day, commercialism gone mad. Much prefer impromptu shows of affection. We met up (unplanned) and had a lovely afternoon wandering around old Southwark and parted company early evening. binkylilyput
Surely V day is the same as any other days where we buy presents and send cards? Mother's day? Father's day? Christmas day (for the non Christian)? They are all days that businesses have capitalised on to make a buck and the public tends to embrace without question. And why not, there are far worse things to do in life than give your loved one a bunch of flowers and a card to remind them they are loved.....and yes, you can do that any day of the year but then you can cook a pancake or send a card to your mother on any day too!littlemissj I agree that it can be a depressing day for singles as it can make it seem as though everyone else is celebrating their gloriously successful relationships- everywhere you turn are reminders that other people are in love! It's great being in a relationship because you have the option of rejecting V day......when you are single it just isIt's over now for this year and I hope someone wonderful is in your life this time next year so you can smugly tell them you don't need V day to validate how blissfully happy you are :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142323-anyone-else-have-a-depressing-valentines-day/page/2/#findComment-1105248 Share on other sites
