Walworth Road Station was a station on the railway line between the old Camberwell Station and Elephant and Castle which closed in 1916. I came across this drawing on the Southwark Collections website which I thought may raise either a smile or a groan.

I've found the attached article

http://www.semgonline.com/RlyMag/ForeignDepotsofSthLondon.pdf

which describes and has a photo of the coal depot in Walworth Road which opened in 1871. The photo shows a wider area than the railway line at the station shown on the ordnance survey map of 1916 but a little to the north, where the old council depot was and Manor Place Baths, there is a stretch of railway with some sidings to the east.

So maybe this was the coal depot? BTW, the article also has information on the Peckham Coal Line which I think the people behind the proposed new Peckham Coal Line have used as background information.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
