CAP's been a mess for years (or always) so I was alwasys suprised how little airing this got during the campaign. If we don't subsidise farming/guarantee prices (whether nationally or across Europe) we stop growing stuff as we did in the early part of the 20th century risking food security, particulaly in the heightened liklihood of war across Europe (yes I am milking this). Good metaphor.

I get all my info from the Archers, so I expect the market to be flooded with cheap Polish lamb.

But at least you'll have a jolly song to hum while it does.

All together now: dumpty dumpty dumpty dum, dumpy dumpy dum-dum...

The idea that the UK will 'do regulation' better than the EU is pretty dubious imo. Sometimes I'm sure we will (it would be hard not to do better policy than in the example of CAP), but occasionally we'll do it worse, or no differently. We will still have to sell into overseas markets and so largely, I suspect many regulations, including food regulations, will remain the same. All the stuff about bendy bananas and what constitutes free range etc is petty stuff, beloved of tabloid newspapers, but largely misreported and / or an irrelevance. The fact that people can get so enraged by these stories, amazes me.

I meant to apologise only about mixing you up, not calling you a 'Tit'

Just so we're clear.

    • Can we change the title of this thread please.  Every time I see it I think the pool has been closed again. 😆😆
    • Still a large patch of grit clearly visible in the middle of the pool yesterday (Tuesday).  On the plus side - the water was a lot warmer!
    • Thanks for the response and to some who PM’d me. I’m now included on the Patient Participation Group (meeting next in Dec) so I’m going to feed back the comments here, good and bad. Update today to PPG members is that, as some of you have said, there is a new contact in place with GP practices with effect from 1 Oct. That appears to be the driver for some of the changes we’ve seen at The Gardens. From the responses here, though, patients might be getting an inconsistent message from the Surgery; I was definitely told that appointments must be made through the app, and only the app. It was only when I expressed concern that a strictly online service would not be suitable for all, that I was told by the receptionist that she could complete the request for me (or others if needed). Even then, then patients would need to await a text from the Practice. Perhaps we are just teething problems with the new provision…Happy to bring any and all comments to the PPG meeting (although I’m aware that the most digitally-excluded people probably aren’t on EDF!) Thanks folks.
