Can you take an EU visitor to your GP?

Does anyone know whether a GP will see someone visiting the uk? My mum is over from Greece with bad cold and coupled with her asthma she sounds at death s door. Am getting worried

A few years ago I took a friend, who was over from Oz to see my Doc, and he registered her as a "temporary patient"

Call the surgery in morning and speak to receptionist, otherwise maybe you could take her to a walk-in clinic.

Supergolden88 is she staying here for long? If not there wont see her, we went privet and it cost us ?120 Clapham Family practice. Hope she gets better soon, if you need antibiotics like Amoxicillin i have some at home and can share if she took them before.

If your mum is an EU citizen (i.e. if she's Greek) she should have the equivalent of an E111 form (now an EHIC card, I think) which will entitle her to full NHS treatment. Even if she doesn't have it with her, it should be enough that she's Greek (though you might find it harder to persuade receptionists etc - but an ID card or passport should be enough).

If she's resident in the EU (i.e. she's not Greek, or from another EU state but lives in Greece) she will be entitled to emergency treatment. I wouldn't delay if you are worried in anyway at all.

Well she is Greek and can bring passport and I am registered at GP so that should help. She has no forms with her of course. Thanks will try to go tomorrow

There is an excellent private walk-in clinic at Waterloo Station. I think they charge around ?60, though haven't been there recently. I went there a couple of years ago when we had just moved house and weren't registered locally. They were very friendly.

There is a walk in clinic near Peckham Rye station - I think it is pretty new. My Mum (from Canada) went there when she was here and was expecting to pay something, but they never mentioned payment so not sure how that works. But anyone can just walk in 8 am-8 pm 7 days/week.

Thank goodness GP saw her she has chest infection on top of terrible asthma. She has been loaded with medications I really hope she improves soon. Isidore Crown Medical Centre in Peckham could not have been more helpful today

Hope she gets better soon. And yes, bit late but yes EU citizens should be seen and generally treated for free.
