Wanted, a property that needs some TLC

Hello all

My girlfriend and I are looking for a 6 month rental around East Dulwich from 11th April (or preferably Norwood but would also consider other areas). The last time we took a flat we found a wonderful couple on this forum who had a tired property which they were struggling to rent at the top rate. As a professional painter/ handyman (excellent references on this and other forums), I was in a position to make significant improvements to their property in order to make it more rentable whilst providing us with a home. We essentially traded work for rent up to the value of the repairs and then paid full rent once the work was completed.

This particular rental was for more than 2 years but most of the work was carried out within the first few weeks. We paid a reasonable deposit and signed standard ASTs throughout and built a great relationship with the couple who we now consider friends.

Please do contact me if you are in a similar position and you think we may be able to work together on a project. I can offer you references from the couple mentioned and also references from my clients from the EDF and Herne Hill Forums. I very much hope we are lucky enough to find someone we can work with again and thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I should also mention my girlfriend is a registered care worker and works full time.

Best regards

Dave and Nicky

    • It is not Labour Party members who elect Labour governments, as it certainly isn't Conservative Party members who elect Conservative ones. It is all those who are not party members who actually make up the sufficient numbers to elect governments.
    • Thanks for these responses. Yes, Cllr Browning & Cllr Hartley did a door-knocking exercise a couple of months ago. It was Maggie Browning who knocked and I told her that I'd had radio silence from Jon Hartley. She looked embarrassed but not surprised. I have spoken to him since, only after writting to Ellie Reeves, our MP about it his lack of response. He agreed to address the issue I asked about but I've not heard from him since. It's really not acceptable for an elected Councillor to consistently ignore his ward constituents. Since it's clearly not a one-off, I'm gonna pick this up formally. I'll let you know how I get on...
    • If memory serves, Labour under Corbyn got more electoral  votes than Labour under Starmer. So I'm not sure how you can call that being "unelectable"? Under a different and fairer electoral system Labour would have won. I see moves are afoot to bring in such a different, fairer system, presumably in the hopes of stopping Reform winning next time. BTW there was a mass exodus from Labour  by  the local (East Dulwich) Labour party members when Corbyn was kicked out by Starmer. It isn't just Islington who doesn't want to support  a right or centre right Labour party.
    • Is this the new shop next to Dulwich Tandoori? is it actually open and if so has anyone tried them.
