Place to play chess

Anyone knows a place (pub/cafe/park) nearby where we can play some chess?

I saw some people playing outside Oxford Circus tube station last night around 9pm which struck me as odd.

Are you looking to find somewhere with chess boards/sets and a ready supply of players or somewhere that would give you space while you play your own games?

I went to Hyde park to play chess with the old guys, but I couldn't find 32 of them

do you mean a pub which provides chessboards or do you just mean where you can bring one along? If the latter, pretty much everywhere

Liqourice used to have board games on the counter but can't recall seeing them lately

I think there is a chess club upstairs at the Crown and Greyhound. I must add, I've heard they are VERY serious and VERY good...ask round the pub for details...

They (used to) play every Monday Evening. 2 pounds for the evening. Do go along.

The Old Nun's Head have lots of board games including chess.

I meant a place where the players meet regularly and you can always find someone to play with. Gonna check the Crown and Greyhound. Cheers!

There's an outdoor board outside the bookshop on Bellenden Road - prob not best time of year to be trying it out though...
