Next Healthy Ride

April 8th, 10am to 12 noon.

this one starts from Canada Water which is on the Overground. According to the TfL journey planner the Overground to Canada Water is running this weekend, or at any rate on Saturday. There's a lift at Canada Water Station but not at Peckham Rye. There's a lift at Queens Road -- check whether it's working before you travel.

Right that's the difficult bit out of the way. This ride starts from outside Canada Water Library at 10am. The library is a lovely building with a coffee shop. The route goes to the London Eye along the South Bank and returns for 12noon.

The first bit from Canada Water to the London Eye goes via National Cycle Route 4. It will loop back through Waterloo Station to the Cut and Union Street (where work on Quietway 14 has started) then around to Abbey Street, across Jamaica Road and back on to NR 4.

There are just a few points of interest on the way: a new harbour is being constructed at Chambers Wharf, plus Borough Market, and the new extension at Tate Modern. 10 miles of easy flat riding, much using off-road paths.

Philippa will be leading. I usually have a little map of the route but today I don't. Bruce's phone no is still 07729 279 945.

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
