Does anyone have a decent quiet route from ED to around Petersfield? I want to go to a family gathering tomorrow afternoon in a village called Rogate on the A272. I'm looking at the traffic and Clapham Junction trains and thinking meh.

I think I'd prefer to cycle if I can find a quiet route. Not bothered about speed, I can take my time and if there are trains I could get on with the bike, I'll do that. This isn't a Lycra fest racer journey, just a trusty hybrid potter.

Any ideas of routes appreciated.

The National Cycle Route network is generally pretty good - never ridden quite that way myself but looks as though 21>20>22 would take you pretty much there (there seems to be a strange hiatus just before Petersfield but only a few miles out). http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map?lat=56.54737192673878&lng=-3.142090281250036&zoom=5&route-type=all-routes&filters=

Have a good ride, would love to hear if it's a pleasant route to ride if you follow that one, always on the lookout for new ways to go.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
