Using this thread as the other thread was all about Opening Night.

Was at Memsaab last night.

I opted for the Sheek Kebab starter.

Served with a delicate salad and assorted Chutneys it was delicious.

For the main I went for Pilau Rice with King Prawn Vindaloo which was wonderful and very hot (as it should be)

(Hard to find a decent Vindaloo these days that is Hot yet flavoursome.)

Also chapatti which was cooked to perfection.

Washed down with a large cold Kingfisher.

Staff at Memsaab are very polite and attentive. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Finished off my evening with a complimentary Grand Marnier on ice.

It was a cold night last night and most places were quiet including Memsaab.

I would recommend people give Memsaab a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Celebrating our wedding anniversary last night we made our way to Memsaab.

Mishti Kadu Gosht, Duck Korahi, Tarka Dhal and Saag Dahl - all very hot and delicious - something different to usual Indian menu.

Finished with a complimentary Tia Maria on ice.

Attentive and friendly service. Will definitely be returning.

Will try out their Sunday Buffet for ?8.95 to see if any different from other restaurants.

Have been back to Memsaab 3 - 4 times since my last visit.

Have made different choices each time. All have been wonderful with distinctive flavour.

Tried their Paratha last night which was excellent. As was the Mushroom Rice.

Chicken Vindaloo was excellent with plenty of tender chicken and a generous amount of spicy potato.

Was very full.

They really deserve to be more busy. The food is very good and the service is excellent.

We went in on the spur of the moment mid week. We usually go to Surma next door. Only 2 tables filled but the food was lovely - fresh and tasty. Very reasonable prices and good service - even offered a Baileys at the end too. Really enjoyed it and we will now alternate with Surma on curry outings.

We went last night with the inlaws and it was delicious food! Really tasty and the spicy dishes properly spicy. I rarely recommend restaurants, but this Indian really stands out from the others on the Lane, looks like it could do with more support, would be a real shame to lose this one. Will be my curry take away default now.

    • Labour's latest Rye Lane Ward newsletter is now saying that demolition in the square will start this summer and that the wider station upgrade is expected to be signed off this year - as explained above, sadly wrong on both counts. It describes the renovation of adjacent buildings on Blenheim Grove as "successful", despite having lain empty for a couple of years, longer than the actual renovation works, before saying "the Council is hopeful [it] will see its first new occupants move in to this year". Cue desperate attempt to get at least one in before end of financial year? As for the other topic, in "November 2023, faced with a huge increase in graffiti across the borough, Labour-run Southwark council took action". Nice turn of phrase eh? Rather, after community pressure regarding years of inaction by said Labour-run council, it's finally started to do a little bit, a little late. Surely there would be more chance of resolving issues if our council could for once be part of an honest, informed discussion?

    • Just wanted to recommend Roger from Critter Solutions Pest Control if anyone’s dealing with mice or other unwanted guests. We had a sudden issue with mice in our home's kitchen and after calling around, these guys were by far the most responsive and professional. Roger arrived on time, was really friendly, and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He did a full inspection and sealed up some access points we hadn’t even noticed. Since his treatment we haven’t seen or heard anything since. What I appreciated most was that it didn’t feel like a rushed job or a hard sell – just honest advice and thorough work. All backed with a guarantee.  Would definitely use them again (hopefully won’t need to!) and thought I’d share in case anyone local is looking.
