Goose Green primary school is an ambitious and rapidly improving school. We have recently been the first school in Southwark to achieve the government recognised "every child matters" award and have also obtained the silver eco schools award. Our SATS results last year were amongst the best locally and our best ever. The school has refurbished the reception playground access and an ambitious programme of building is shortly to commence which will provide us with our own kitchen to prepare fresh healthy lunches on site and work is to start on the development of a green screen of climbing plants along the Grove Vale side of the playground in conjunction with the Centre for Wildlife Gardening.

Strong teaching staff and leadership, committed and effective governers and PTA are striving for and achieving excellence for our children.

We offer wrap around care 8am-6pm and a wide range of heavily subsidised after school classes; drama, ballet, tae kwondo, football, ICT etc etc. Our music and sports provision is excellent.

The headteacher, Sharron Marland, will be conducting a tour of the whole school on Monday 10th January at 9.30am. This will be the last chance to tour the school before the deadline for reception places for September 2011. Given that we are taking a bulge class and will be a 3 form entry we are perhaps the school that many local people are most likely to get in to!

The PTA holds a coffee morning on the first monday of every month (late this year because of the bank holiday) and those taking the tour are welcome to join us beforehand in the after school annexe accessed via the playground from about 9.10am.

No need to book just turn up at the gates on Tintagel Crescent and the office will buzz you through.

If you want to know more about the school but cannot attend the tour, please feel free to PM.

    • Most recent polls for the next election suggest it will be a hung parliament, with Reform the largest party by a fair margin. But that is predicated on Reform finding around 300 candidates who are actually electable. Given the number of Reform council candidates who have had to drop out prior to or after the local elections, does that seem likely? Social media is pretty unforgiving when it comes to finding skeletons in cupboards; a retweet or a like seems enough to scupper political ambitions. A few may defect from other parties, but do you think the electorate would really vote for so many brand new MPs from a newish party?  I'm not so sure.
    • To be fair, anything which waylays someone on their way to Palma Nova or Lloret de Mar from spending even more pre-flight time in Spoon's surely has some merit? I think losing a few quid on a litre of Bacardi and 200 Benson & Hedges Gold seems a reasonable price for society to pay. ,
