Help. Daughter has electric pump, but it takes her 20-30 minutes to express 50ml, surely there must be a faster machine??

Also, baby needs to be given piriton at night and she just squirts it out with her dribble. Daughter has tried using pipette and a syringe. The only time it was vaguely successful was when I hel her slightly tipped downwards and she choked it down!

Dont remember having this problem myself so any suggestions to either problem gratefully received xx

If you out it in the mouth itself, they do. If you squeeze in small amounts into the cheek, they can't

Nurofen syringe is best, for some reason, I have found

We had the same problem with our 6 month old, and never found a proper solution. The only reasonably successful method was to tag team it, with one holding her still with her head slightly tipped back and the other using the syringe. If you can get it in the cheek it helps a lot but it's easier said than done, when baby is clamping her mouth shut, shaking her head and sticking her tongue in the way! Good luck...

Re: the pumping amounts, it may not change with a different pump. If I remember correctly, it would take me about that much time and I might get a bit more, like maybe 70 mls? I found I had to pump at the same time every day in order to easily get a decent amount. At other times of day I could put the pump on and not get a drop.

I always found Kelly Mom really helpful for pumping information: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/

The Kelly Mom site says, for e.g., that a single pumping sessions usually yields 0.5-2 oz, so 50 mL would be on the high end of that range.

    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
