Hi

Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has installed slim profile sliding glass doors in their extension. How do they look? Are you pleased you installed them. Are they family friendly? Has anything gone wrong.

I was also wondering if anyone had feedback on the companies that they used. I am probably going with Culmax but have also got quotes from IQ, ID and Slimline.

Thanks in advance

We have schucco bifolds which look great and work really well. The people who fitted them were complete idiots though and screwed up the drainage on the first two attempts! Is there a reason to go for sliding rather than folding or French doors?

Hello, we used Urban and Grey sliding aluminium doors - http://urbanandgrey.co.uk/our-products/aluminium-doors/aluminium-sliding-doors/

Really slim profiles (2cm), quite expensive but lead times and fitting service was good, would recommend.

Hi there,

We are deciding between Culmax, (now Maxlight) and Cortizo.

We went to visit Maxlight factory and they look really good. We also visited a site that my builder is putting the Cortizo ones and they equally look great. We will probably go with Cortizo only because they do various options for other doors that we also need. And price will be slightly cheaper. My contractor is the Cortizo importer. So if you look at their website and like them he can give you a quote.

Good luck with your choice.

We also looked at IQ but way too expensive and the other 2 are as good.

Yes it was the bi-fold door company who we used. I would not recommend them. The doors themselves are great and now fitted correctly, but we had real issues with them.

The first set of installers used a non-schuco drainage box which didn't drain, they then tried to fix it by simply gumming it up with more silicon which didn't resolve the problem. Finally the properly installed a genuine schuco drainage box and we've had no issues since. Luckily we were really delayed fitting the wooden floor so only the concrete got wet. They also cracked our roof light on two separate delivery attempts which wasn't great.

On the other hand we used OM double glazing for our glass roof and the end panel (also schuco) and we couldn't be happier with their work.

DM me if you want to pop by and take a look.

    • Not so fast @malumbu. This is not a nothing to see here moment (and for some of us on the forum it is local as her house is in Dulwich)- the BBC explain why, have a read: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgkvd3jg2no Southwark's role in this will be key - did they alert her, will they fine her (as they have done with other private landlords), was it someone in Southwark who leaked it? • 🤣 Well, I can apparently  "react" provided I take up a whole other post to do it. I wonder when "today" ends, and what is my daily quota of "reactions"?
