Nanny required: Tuesday - Fridays from Sept

Recommended Posts

We are a relaxed but busy family in need of a reliable nanny/housekeeper. We are still in contact with our former nannies who would be happy to recommend us!

Based in Peckham, we are a friendly family looking for a nanny/housekeeper to help keep our kids safe and happy. We have a 5 year old daughter and a 7 year old son.

Hours would be 12pm - 7pm term time with regular paid overtime - babysitting and extra hours in holidays. We'd like a driver ideally, and have a car you could use.

You must be caring, trustworthy and reliable. Your key duties will involve picking up our children from school (they are at different schools - hence the need for a driver ideally) and taking them to various after school activities, helping with homework, giving them supper and getting them ready for bed.

When the kids are at school daily housework includes: keeping the house tidy and clean, washing, ironing, folding and putting away all washing, emptying and stacking the dishwasher, general tidying up. This also includes supermarket and online shopping for the family shop and cooking children's meals.

The hours are 28 hours a week 12 - 7 Tuesday - Friday, with additional regular overtime particularly over school holidays and half term. Although we can be flexible about hours with the right candidate.

You must be a non-smoker, have excellent verbal and written English and be energetic and

resourceful, experienced in childcare and good references.

If you fit this description and like the sound of the role, please email your CV and a covering

letter with your home address and phone number.

    • Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4
    • Not in Ed, but I was in NE England over the weekend and saw an otter in the wild! Never seen one before, it was quite lovely.
    • Well unless the heron got them later, there were the  two cootlets. I think some others of this year's babies must have escaped the heron. Many years ago (and possibly still, though I never see them any more) there was a whole heron family on the island  - mum, dad and youngster. I don't know how long herons live. Maybe this one is the grown up youngster.
    • Neighbourhood police, they often get called in for neighbourhood 'disputes', although if you have been Southwark ASBU perhaps you have already explored this
