I need some new friends!

Had a brilliant friend first time round (met her outside Blue Mountain Cafe when our children were 6w old) and although they are now 8 and she moved years ago to w London we are still very good friends.

Second time round with the twins had a very active 2nd time mums NCT group and we keep in touch but since maternity leave ended only one or two of those mums are at home part time and it doesn't necessari;ly coincide with my days.

Now I have a new baby and also I have seen various new mum meetups organised (like the attachment parenting one) but as I often have my 2 yo twins with me too, I am not free to get along to coffee shop type meetups where everyone else just has one placid newborn!

I am sure there are quite a few of us who would like to find a "soulmate"

So can I say I am quite old, I work pat time, qute laid back cosleeping breastfeeding type... currently free

on Mon, Thurs and Fri ams and all day Tues and Weds, after Easter it will be all day Weds, Thurs and Fri mornings. If anyone would like to be friends please PM me! I like places like CP one o'c club, P Rye Park and cafe, one o'c club in the Summer (though I have to do school pick up from Heber)

If anyone else would like to find a pal, please feel free to add to the thread!

My super-extroverted 1 yo daughter would probably get along great with your twins! Never been to CP 1 o'clock club, but I have a friend (also with a boisterous 1 yo) in the area. Maybe we could meet there one day? We don't have a car, but we're highly mobile with buggy or sling. (Btw, anyone going to CP station via train, don't forget: STAIRS! (My poor husband got caught out on this once, taking buggy instead of sling for Little Saff, oh dear!)

xx

SB: I HATE the late pm/early evening but I have to do the school pick up at 3.30 (takes me an hour to get them all in and out of the car at both ends)

Maybe the occasional playdate might be good... you'd be welcome to brave the chaos at ours and come for tea one day at about 4.30! In the Summer, tea at P Rye or Dulwich Pk would be good... especially Fridays I always feel like we deserve a treat.

Mine usually sleep till 2.15 then have a late lunch, it isn't time to do much unless they nap in the car while I am parked up outside the one o'c club or something like that.

I often think I'd like to have to do a school pick up - at least would give sthg to do!! Little sb sleeps till 3 and is cross until 3.30 - so little time to get out!

I don't know whether this still happens but there was an ad on the nct yahoo group about a bumps and babes suitable for people with toddlers and babies -

Don't know what parking is like - suppose it's up near sainsburys? I'm starting to feel v scared about being out/feeding baby/controlling runaway toddler....

ok, let's fix it for a Friday!

I think this coming friday is good. Bring your earplugs!

Would def be up for getting together in the park or sandpit on sats once the weather looks up.

Atm we hang out Saturdays at Little Rascals softplay in Bellingham if anyone fancies it... is very good for toddlers, not too big. Not very flashy but does the trick.

And there was me thinking I was the only one counting down the days till Spring/Summer.

I don't have any answers Fuschia - just to say I totally understand how you feel. I work from home & it can get

lonely at times - I have seen many threads started by local mums who feel the same. I guess some back away a little

and don't want to make a firm commitment as they may meet up with someone and just not ''click'' with that particular

individual and then generic meetings leave you feeling a little lost with no one in particular to talk to -

especially if your not a very outgoing person.

It can be really hard to coordinate schedules with other mums and babies too, especially if your LOs are on diff nap routines/go to diff classes/ diff schools etc. Plus some people work or study part time so only have 1 or 2 free days/wk.

Then to top it off, everyone has their own idiosyncrasies. Me, for example, loathe going out in the morning unless it's something really special b/c Little Saff takes her longest nap mid-morning. I generally sleep then too. Otherwise I'm a total zombie for the rest of the day.

No wonder it's so hard to meet new people!

xx

Yes, it's a bit like being a shift worker trying to meet a new partner, really. And once you have a toddler, you can never have a conversation anyway!

But it is well worthwhile making a good friend, the sort of person who will come round when you and your kid have been up all night with him puking, and help you get the house straight then watch him while you nap... the sort of friend when you go to your house you feel at home making yourself a cup of tea, and load their dishwasher while you're in the kitchen...

I have two friends like that with children same age as my son no 1, but neither live locally or work part time.

Thanks, Fuschia and Devonlass15, for meeting up at the Plough the other day. Shall we try to organise something round mine one day in Feb? Three comfy sofas, lots of tea and cake, two friendly cats, children always welcome... Late morning/early afternoon is usu good for me and Little Saff. If anyone fancies some more 'mummy matchmaking', get in touch!

:)

Hi-

I'm resurrecting an old thread to invite you and your LOs to mine for our Halloween party on Saturday the 29th of October from 1-5pm. We're having All Fired Up provide paint and pottery for ?10/person for the kids (or adults if you're so inclined too!) The party is ostensiblly for The Only Child Playgroup, but seeing as how Halloween only crops up once a year, I've also invited my NCT group -- some of whom are now on Baby 2, not even 2 years after the first! Wow!! So you and your LOs would all be very welcome, and I hope we can do some mummy matchmaking too.

    • Received this response from TFL today (15 October)   Thank you for contacting us on 1 October regarding the ongoing diversion of the P13 bus route between Rye Lane and Sainsbury’s, Dog Kennel Hill, since 29 September. You’re absolutely right that the diversion is due to Thames Water works in the area. While other traffic may appear to be flowing freely along Avondale Rise into Ivanhoe Road, our local Service Delivery Manager has confirmed that buses are unable to safely make the turn from Avondale Rise into Ivanhoe Road in either direction. This is due to the size and turning radius of the vehicles, which differs significantly from that of smaller vehicles. We understand that diversions can be inconvenient and appreciate your patience while this work is ongoing. We’re continuing to monitor the situation closely and will restore the usual route as soon as it is safe and operationally feasible to do so. Thanks again for contacting us. If there is anything else we can help you with, please reply to this email. Alternatively, you can call us on 0343 222 1234 and we'll be happy to help you.
    • If anyone is looking for a tree surgeon, I recommend Hamish and Cut Above Tree Management. He was very helpful and personable, quick to respond and did an excellent job of removing a wonky tree in my garden with a minimum of hassle. A fantastic service!
