Has anyone had any problems with their gas supply around the Goose Green/Worlingham Road area?

My combi boiler stopped working at the weekend, which was pretty surprising as it's only three years old and top of the range. I've finally had the Vaillant engineer over today and he said that there wasn't enough gas coming through to ignite the boiler and that I needed to call my gas supplier as there could potentially be a leak somewhere.

So the gas man came over and after dismantling the gas meter he was very surprised to find a large stone wedged in the gas pipe. He thought the meter was a little heavy as if there was stuff inside it that shouldn't be there so he fitted in a new meter. Other than that he couldn't see any other problems and the boiler still isn't working. So I'm back to square one again and the engineer is coming back tomorrow.

My main concern is, how did the stone get into the gas pipe? And the only logical reason that I can think of is that when they were doing the road works/gas pipes last year that they may have got some gravel/road into the system and its been making its way through the houses (maybe this is a little far fetched). But I am concerned that perhaps smaller particles have managed to make their way to the back of my house to the boiler and clogged it up.

Has anyone else had any problems with their gas/boiler?

Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
