Seeking full time live out nanny/housekeeper

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately our amazing nanny of three years will be leaving us to start a new career, so we will require a nanny/housekeeper from the Autumn of 2017 (likely end of September, beginning of October) on a full time, live out basis.

Nanny work:

-Drop off/pick up boys from school;

-Ensure they complete homework and assist them with homework where necessary;

-Organise and supervise playdates;

-Take / pick up kids to / from afterschool activities (e.g. swimming);

-Wash boys 'clothes, towels and linens and lay out school uniform for next day;

-Feed them snacks, pack them school lunches and make them a light meal for dinner;

-Supervise bathtime each day;

-Ensure boys tidy up their rooms and playroom, put away toys, etc.

Housekeeping work:

-Wash dishes/fill/empty dishwasher daily;

-Make beds daily;

-Ironing weekly;

-Change and wash linens weekly;

-Hoovering whole house weekly;

-Mop kitchen and bathroom floors weekly;

-Clean both bathrooms weekly;

-Dusting / tidying daily; and,

-Put away groceries when they are delivered, and assist us with keeping a grocery list.

Hours 8am - 630pm, but will need to have some flexibility from time to time. No public/bank holidays or weekends are required. Nanny/Housekeeper must take their five weeks paid holiday at the same time as family takes our holiday; this will be during school holidays.

Preferred candidate:

-Candidate should be a mature, reliable, energetic individual with good English language skills and a good educational background (degree not required).

-Highly prefer someone local to south east London area and an easy commute to East Dulwich.

-References required for roles in a similar line of work--this could be from previous nanny roles, other childcare work or teaching/teaching assistant work.

-Only candidates that can commit to the role for more than 12 months will be considered.

Salary is gross ?28,000 per annum, and we will also contribute to a private workplace pension. Payslips will be provided by an independent nanny tax service, who will handle all PAYE and NIC administration.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
