Advice required re digging channel into concrete

Recommended Posts

Hi - I am laying some pipes and need to cut a channel quite deep - maybe 40-60cm but only wide enough for a pipe.

What do I need?

I thought a grinder to cut the edges and then a hammer drill?

But I'm not sure the drill bit will be long enough.

So, I thought I'd ask the EDFers before I go and get things I don't need or won't do the job.

You will know, this is not my area or skillset.

I want to assess the difficulty and tools required before I decide if I need to get someone (other than boyfriend and his mate) in.

Thanks :-)

Hi,

I would use an angle grinder to make a channel each side of where the pipe is going then use a hammer drill with a chisel bit to remove the section of concrete you need.

You will find that it will come up easy with the hammer drill after you have made the channel

Or you can use a comb chisel and hammer

    • It may be true of 19th Century foundations - which I think is what Dulwich College was, but it certainly doesn't reflect all public schools, and certainly not in the mid to late 20th century. Certainly all schools go through problem times (and not just public schools) - but the generalities being quoted here are misplaced. Dulwich College does appear to have had its own, very specific, problems.

    • No, it is punishing people you no longer like or care for, it is 'c;leaning' an area of people you consider undesirable. Forcing people to move house by taxing them for an asset they have already paid for out of taxed income (and remember you will also sweep up purchase tax as well...). Essentially the government is proposing nationalising land, with no compensation. If you have to pay government land rent for your property (which is what a wealth tax is in effect) you no longer own the property. The Government does.

The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll.
