A while ago 'Chris-Purplemusic' advertised a new group she's doing called 'crazy basses'. It's a Saturday morning 1 hour class teaching mini-bass (ie double bass, but small sized versions for the kids). The classes are a mix of learning the instrument and musicianship skills. The age range, I think, is 5-11.

Anyway, we went on Saturday and thought it was great- a real opportunity to learn an (unusual) instrument right here in East Dulwich. Chris is a professional player and really lovely.

I'm not related in any way to her, but just wanted more people to hear about it, so please contact her direct, not me!

I saw the post too and meant at the time to post to say that I was given a similar opportunity when I was 9 or 10 and went on to play the double bass for years. I loved it and had so many great experiences playing in orchestras with other young people. It's a wonderful and unusual instrument to play and I only wish I was still playing!

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
