Remind me about potty training

Child no 1 wa YEARS ago and twin II did it by herself really but twin I (3 in April) is pretty oblivious. I'm hoping he will at some point at least start admitting when he has done a poo... the furthest we've got with him is he sometimes asks to sit on the loo.

Have a newborn now and my head has been in the clouds a bit but sometime this Spring we need to bite the bullet, however I can't really remember what to do,and is it poo or wee we're hoping for success with first?
