If you use the Lido and in particular the gym or spa there, or take classes ... or are just curious about the facility ... some of us users have started a Facebook forum to better be able to get to know each other as well as feed back (both positives and negatives) to BLU (the Brockwell Lido Users Group) and to Fusion, who run the place. These are basically community pages.

It's always hard launching something like this and getting attention, so check it out and give it a "like"! If you're on Facebook, that is. You don't need to be on Facebook to look at the stuff but if you are, you're welcome to add your comments!

Use to love the Brockwell Lido in the pool every 6am until they 'removed' Paul as the manager. Caf? use to display 'local & Community' activities, then that was ripped down and replaced by only Lido activities........ so don't use caf? either!

Toad uses other pools!

Any connections between Chains & Fusion? Cash = Flash!, Toad knows far too many people who just get on with it without paying ????? to the chain.

No bitterness though when Paul was removed......... please keep this thread going Brockwell Lido, lots more to say!

It is a long lease which Lambeth created with Fusion. I liked Paul Maier too ... Jeremy as well. We had lots of pow wows. He helped start the Modern Movement too. And agreed his replacement was very hard work and did some outrageous stuff. But she was yanked after protest (nearly a sit-in in December) and am encouraged by her replacement so far. He has allowed us to display handbills for the facebook around the dryside of the place and put some up himself. This is one of the reasons for the facebook thing. if you want to be read, go on it and add your comments. both the manager and BLU seem to be reading the wall. I'm not sure they will come to the ED forum. I appreciate what you say about the bulletin board - we should be on there too. We are trying to get on it now. Meeting some resistance but one of the facebook administrators met with BLU heads this week and brought it up again.

Well Ant, the word's Italian meaning beach. So if it came from the original then it should be lee-do.

However, like the French word promen-ah-de which is often pronounced promen-ay-de, it became so corrupted after allowing the working classes to both read and travel that it can be pronounced whichever way you choose.

You could even have some fun trying to persuade people to put the stress on the second syllable: l'DOH

    • I was talking to my brother in the law last weekend who works for a different water company. He said he and his colleagues watch TW’s woes with a mixed of horror, disbelief and then relief that they work for a different water company. Worth a watch. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00284vt
    • But Thatcher is dead. Nobody since has brought the utilities back under public ownership (if that's the right term). So there are many people who could be blamed. Meanwhile the shareholders get richer and everyone else gets increasing bills and a poorer service. Plus as said above, a massive waste of a limited resource like water. Not to mention the polluted rivers and seas. At least the privatisation of the railways is being reversed. Hopefully water may be on the list somewhere.
    • That's really helpful. Do the Community Councils still exist? It sounds to me that whoever the contact is on the council who has sorted out the North Cross Road notice board and put the new list of councillors in it must at least have access to the key for that one? Unless it was one of the unlocked ones. And of course if somebody knows where the keys are, they may have no idea that people are looking for them or that this forum thread exists. Which are the notice boards which are not locked?  The very helpful locksmith near the station (?Callows?)  might be able to provide keys for them, or if not, new locks, in return for some local publicity? In fact, they may be able to advise in general, rather than keep trying unresponsive people at the council. But then of course there is still the question of who is going to take responsibility for putting appropriate East Dulwich community information into them and updating it as necessary.
    • Our residents' association used to have keys many moons ago, but when locks were changed, we tried everyone (including ward councillors) to get keys to no avail. A couple of boards are not locked. The Community Councils originally paid for all the notice boards in Dulwich. May have come under the Cleaner Greener budget.
