citizenED
Anyone see this: Parents Under Pressure. Loved the working parents of those twins. Sheesh. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16144-parents-under-pressure-bbc2/ Share on other sites
Saila
Parents?! I like how they used that word... It's 'MUMs under pressure'And this sort of program fuels the pressureI have to admit I turned this off through boredom but I didn't see a Dad being interviewed once... So predictable Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16144-parents-under-pressure-bbc2/#findComment-417497 Share on other sites
CFM
This programme made me angry. Full of cliches and a massive guilt trip to boot. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16144-parents-under-pressure-bbc2/#findComment-417598 Share on other sites
Saila
Completely agree: 'get back to the kitchen sink' stuffWhat riles me is that men weren't mentioned ! It's all *our* fault. Rising self harm and depression must be linked to woman having a life...In the same way that erm... Scooter sales have gone up? Does that mean scooters cause children to self harm? That program probably caused a load of mums to self harm after watching itHmmm... I think it may have made me angry too :)They had mums on there with serious issues and problems in the homeAnd then made out that their issues somehow represented modern mums todayAnyway, perhaps the ending was better... citizenED
Yeah, I thought it a very lazy, cheap trick type programme with all the cliches. I didn't watch it with full attention - I had it on the iplayer whilst I happily carried on with my kitchen chores.Shame because this whole area of bringing up children is so rich and multi-faceted with such a depth of research and inciteful opinion, but all the BBC could find was the extreme cases, the typical journalistic deception.
