I need to ship a painting which is framed and under glass to the States and as I have only had to ship canvases before I wondered if anyone can give me advice on:-

a) how to pack it safely as it will be fragile and

b) which courier services are best and not too expensive. The painting measures about 20" x 27" thanks for any tips!

There are professional shippers and packers out there, or get a carpenter to build you a case package and cut dense PU foam to fit nice and tight. Cover the glass with Tessa tape (there's one for glass that comes off with ease) before shipping.

Cover the outer with "Handle with Care" stickers and find a gentle handed courier firm. I'm sure UPS do a kid gloves service.

I shipped crated art from Thailand to LA using a US firm called Xpeditious. I had to purchase separate insurance. You would need to get it created. They are not specialist art couriers but there are specific firms who handle art - depends how much you want to spend tbh.

Good luck

    • I think you need to say here what specific preparation and brand it was.  I can't even find any protein powder on the H&B web page https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/sports-nutrition/protein/ at £13.50, only one item reduced from £13.50 to £8, and doubt it was that    Also, please, a link to whichever article/s it was that mentioned the kidney damage.
    • Being armed is very different.  I know a couple of people erroneously stopped by armed police in London and it was extremely scary for them, much more so than being stopped by unarmed police.  One of them was given a leaflet afterwards to explain why armed police had the right to randomly stop and search them and their vehicle so that made everything alright! So I don't think it should just be minimised by saying they all carry guns in that area so it was ok.  It was a ridiculous bit of policing which we clearly agree on.
    • Your point?  Why did you buy it, don't you have a mind of your own??
    • Me and my wife went to Holland & Barrett yesterday and bought some protein powder for our 16-year-old grandson who is going to the gym at The Dulwich Leisure Centre regularly with his friends. We chose a different brand for him as his usual was unavailable and noticed that it had 18 on the packaging. When we checked with the two assistants they just asked if he had taken it before and when we said yes, they said that it was OK for him.  Doing some research online today we now know it is not safe for him and can cause kidney damage.  We didn't know about this before as his friends were all taking it too so we thought it was fine. Those assistant mislead us and that's very wrong of Holland & Barrett, they just wanted the sale of £13.50. We will be making a complaint to their head office.
