how much to pay for a new deck?

I know it all depends on size and lots of things, but for various reasons, we're being pushed into a quick decision on replacing ours and I think our quote is very high. We've got a 5m x 4m deck which has a raised bit over one part (another layer of deck forming a step), which is around 1m x 3m. If anyone could share recent prices publicly or via pm would be very helpful.

As a local garden designer & landscaper, there is a formula for things like decks & fences unless there are exceptional aspects within the design of the deck. We normally charge ?140-150 per sq metre for soft wood decking, but now Millboard & other maintenance free eco decking is available these increase the price substantially Millboard coming in for the deck alone at around ?68 per linear metre. Then there is hardwood, beautiful but very expensive due to its rarity & that it is a lot more work to assemble ( you have to pre drill each hole to avoid splitting!)

If you have any questions or need a quote please get in touch.

    • Once again. Worth repeating - it’s not that Labour can’t  or shouldn’t be criticised  but the reaction to everything being “is this the end for starmer?” Is such a symptom of a broken countr. He isn’t very good but he isn’t behaving in any outrageous ways, and we haven’t had 3 Labour leaders in between an election - so calling for one or saying the leader should be replaced is just hysterical    the Tories record in power since Brexit has broken people’s minds
    • The Chagos deal was done by the last government and they just paused it 6 months before the election as it was obv political dynamite.
    • Another strong recommendation for Sam's work - he recently did a super job installing a new subfloor in our bedroom and we're really pleased with how its turned out. Very reasonable fee, very neat and tidy finish and an all round lovely guy.
    • Part of it will be U.K.s place in the world out of the EU, dealing with sociopaths in us government.  It can ill afford to have a complete falling out with china  but who knows   Mostly what we are reading is the usually shadowy stuff from, shall we say, vested interests against Labour, without an awful lot by way of substance
