The East Dulwich Writers' Group (EDWG) has followed up its successful first anthology (Hoovering the Roof ) with a second collection called ... (drum roll, please) Hoovering the Roof 2.

It's a lively collection of short stories, novel extracts, poetry and creative non-fiction. All the writers are based in South East London, and the book has been produced and illustrated by the group as well. It's available from local bookshops including Cheners, Herne Hill Bookshop, Village Books, Bookseller Crow (Crystal Palace) among others.

EDWG writers are reading from the anthology at the New Gallery in Peckham on Tuesday 15th March - more details in the What's On section or click here.

If you are interested in coming to one of our readings, or joining the group, or for any other information, check our website: www.edwg.co.uk, or email [email protected].

    • In what sense? Be more specific  (and I have worked in retail and hospitality)  nothing I said is in any way anti-retail as far as I can see  Out of interest and for comparison, which country do you think gets it right to a significant degree?
    • The root of all these problems is that the model of capitalism pursued in this country for the last 45 years has failed utterly. It’s only true beneficiaries inhabit an ever decreasing circle of have-lots in a sea of have-nots, defended by an increasingly squeezed band of born at the right time boomers, which surely cannot hold.
    • I'm talking about parts of the country economically deprived, some that never recovered from the loss of traditional industries. But in your point, yes, there are those that are never happy.  We should be reasonably happy in this area.
    • This feels like you have never worked in retail or understand the pressures retail businesses have 😅
