Any ideas of venue for 40th Birthday party?

Looking for a venue for husband's surprise (well kind of!)40th birthday party! Have had look at several in central london but clearly had ideas waaaay above my budget (quoted ?8000 for one place!). Prob looking at 30-40 people and somewhere cool but not poncey and not too much of a schelpp to get to. Maybe London Bridge way? Or central somewhere? Any tips/ pointers anyone??

Just had lunch at Lassco's in Vauxhall. Fabulous and unusual surroundings.

i had my 50th in the studio behind Bar Story in Blenheim grove.I ve also been to a good 50th in the aquarius gold clubhouse.

The tapas was really nice and its generally very nice inside (though obviously more low key than having something in central London)
