Btwin Fitness 5 carbon/alloy bike ?150 - now sold thanks

Recommended Posts

Selling Mrs.H's Btwin Fitness 5. Size medium: fits me at six foot and her at 5'6". Good for anyone in that range and maybe an inch or so either way.

An excellent bike good for fast commuting and leisure riding, would even hold its own in a sportive but is just as at home on towpaths and gravel. Only selling as the speed has got to her and she's bought a full-on race bike!

Alloy/carbon frame (carbon seat stays), carbon fork, Shimano Sora drivetrain, Deore indexed shifters. Full specs can be seen here (discontinued but page still there): https://www.decathlon.co.uk/btwin-form-5-id_8188896.html

The only changes to this spec are the following upgrades:

Saddle: Specialized Sonoma 155 (very comfortable, no splits, cuts or tears)

Tyres: Vittoria Randonneur 700x28 (only approx 150 miles)

Pedals: Shimano PD580 flat/SPD: flat one side for ordinary shoes, SPD clip-ins the other

Brake blocks: Aztec (only approx 250 miles)

I've borrowed this a few times and it's a fine machine, almost as fast as my road bike but much more relaxed and comfortable. Mechanically all working well, gears change smoothly, brakes are excellent, wheels good and true.

Bad points (all minors which don't affect ride but for full disclosure):

Plastic caps from add-on bar ends missing

A few odd scuffs on paintwork, not very noticeable, no dents or major scratches

Release lever on front brake doesn't work: this means that to remove the front wheel you have to either let a little air out, loosen the brake cable or (what I do) give it a sharp tap.

I'm not looking to make a profit on this bike, it was a great bargain when I bought it from the original owner (price new ?449, I believe) and I just want to make back what I've spent on it (so not interested in offers, thanks, it's already a very low price).

PM me with any questions, viewings of course welcome.

    • We just had to have a fair bit of roofing done, along with new guttering and facia replacement (swapping out wooden for pvc) Also chimneys needed repointing & had problems with a large roof light. we didn’t know why we had damp in certain parts of the living room & turns out water was getting in via damaged chimneys. we ended up using vintage roofing and building ltd, & have to say they did a great job, scaffolding went up and work started straight away, they were pleasant & respectful of our property, & tidy. they showed us videos of the damage before starting work, & of the work after it was completed. And we have a 20 year guarantee. We live in a Victorian semi  happy to PM you how much it cost us
    • I’ve been hearing a beeping sound that goes off every 45 - 60 secs 24 hours a day for a few weeks and can’t work out where it’s coming from. You can hear it all the way down the road and I can hear it when I’m at home and it’s starting to drive me a bit crazy, so would love to figure out what it is.    Anyone else noticed it?
