Hello, our 2 year old daughter will soon be starting nursury 3 mornings a week, at a cost of about ?100 a week.

Now, we get child benefit, and about ?40 a month (Woohoo) tax credit. Our joint income is something like ?54k a year. It just seems that we keep hearing about people getting loads of help, and either they're playing the system somehow, or we're not getting everything we're entitled to.

Mrs otta can get some vouchers through her work, where basically you don't pay tax or ni on that part of your salery, but that is not going to be much of a saving.

does anyone know about these things, who could offer some advise?

also, does tax credit go up when you have a second child?

    • Staff have changed and owner now taking a more active role….she is such a nice+lady so I encourage you to try again . I am all for supporting local business and personally very glad after appalling service earlier this year Gail’s has closed.. Change of staff and chefs were unreal.. In one month alone must have had at least 4 new chefs plus god knows how many waiters/ waitresses.. when Ai saw that happening, new it was gonna be down hill all the way.

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
