Moth problem

Clothes Moths are a real problem for many people. You are not alone.

I have been plagued with them for years. They have completely destroyed large areas of my Axminster carpets.

I have installed electronic plugin devices that attract, trap and kill the little buggers.

Unfortunately, only the males actually fly. The females cannot fly and get around by hopping and crawling.

If you spray a female they will drop to the ground. The males will fly off and die.

The moth Larvae do most of the damage. Clothes Moths live for 65 - 90 days and lay around 50 eggs in that time,

By the time you see Moths you are already infested.

They hate the cold and love hot places.

I do not believe there is any way to completely eliminate them. They can and will always come back.

You need to get some sprays and zap them when you see them.

They lay eggs under furniture that does not get moved like sofas.

You need to Vacuum these areas.

Also get some moth killer cards that you can hang in your wardrobe and place in your draws and cupboards.

I have all but nailed them this year, after several years being plagued by the bastards.

I removed all carpets and underlay and gripper bars and took it to the dump, vacuumed the wooden floors thoroughly (including the gaps between floorboards - especially where they cross a joist which is where dust/eggs settle), washed with a bleach wash the same including under skirting, rubbed down and painted the floors to seal them, 'spring-cleaned' every room where stuff has lain for ages (that's what they like, dark static places).

I'm down form dozens of moths per day to 1 or 2 per week which is a massive result for us.

Next I'm going to let-off those moth smoke bombs when we go off for the weekend, because now that there's nowhere to hide we hope to kill-off any remaining and form that point we only expect moths to come in form the surrounding houses which means we'll have to keep on it every year form now on.

I HATE MOTHS.

They have eaten my clothes and my bedroom carpets.

I have tried everything on the list, and was just at the point where a flame-thrower was the only option, UNTIL....

I've not even had to use the whole kit, just liberally sprayed the affected parts of the carpets with the Formula C and I have not seen a SINGLE moth since that one application in May.

I had terrible problem last year due to operation I could not pull out furniture bed etc once a week for cleaning after a month I found moths under her to my horror

Brought soon stuff but after a few weeks it did not seem to work very well so went to another company www.mothprevention.com got the super strength pack and it worked

I cleaned out wardrobe dry cleaning all that could not be washed and used the spray

This year had a few but been using the sticky strips along with the strong spray

Luckily I never had holes in carpets as they were not long there, best think is move everything and hoover ones a week and use spray and sticky strips to keep them from breeding.

It's a pain and may take a few weeks but you will get there

Rentiol kill and others companies can not guarantee there work that's why I did it myself

Good luck

He’s immediately available and looking for local handyman work — from snagging and DIY jobs to gardening or general fixing-up. He’s capable, practical, and reliable, with plenty of hands-on experience restoring and maintaining, including with heritage/listed properties. If you have a to-do list you never quite get to, or need help with those annoying finishing touches, he’d be happy to help. Please drop him a message if you’d like to chat or check availability. 07968345884

Be aware, the trade value on your car is really low as no one wants to do the work & it's often only when it reaches near scrap value that someone (else) is willing to invest (their money) to try and fix. So if you're willing to front the money and fix your car that (you know) then that is most likely your best option (also understanding that it is outrageous that you should have to replace a CVT gearbox after 50K). If that isn't appealing consider a new Skoda Fabia 1.0 (Auto) on finance if you can't afford cash, it will last 20yrs.... (and avoid cars from the Stellantis group)
    • If you are referring to me, I was using my mobile. Just quoting the post I was replying to would have made no sense without showing my original post as well. I wouldn't have been able to do that on a "real PC" either, assuming I carried one around with me everywhere. It's nothing to do with what I'm using, it's the way the forum is set up to quote posts. I did insert a screenshot showing the keyboard by mistake.
    • You have to book for the Sunday roasts in advance. I have bad memories of once going for a circular  walk around Downe and then trying to eat. The Queens Head staff (and customers)  looked at us as if we were mad for attempting to get a meal without booking. The other pub in the village  reeked of bleach.  We had to  drive around in search of a meal, and ended up at some large pub whose name and location  I have thankfully forgotten. All I remember is the food, which was truly awful.
