Baby-proofing outside space

Hi all,

We have a couple of steep steps with sharp edges in our garden. Has anyone ever come across anything to baby-proof outside space? Have done internet search for rubber edges for steps etc but they all seem to be quite thin plastic stuff rather than more cushiony rubber material.

Thoughts and recommendations would be much appreciated.

We used a Baby Dan playpen to cordon off a dangerous bit of the garden, or when having a BBQ etc no good if steps are for getting to & from the garden though. Foam & gaffa tape?? It's only really an issue for 1 summer I found, at the just crawling/walking stage then they are ok mostly (as much as they ever are!).

Lay an old stair carpe/runner t over it?
