If anyone is looking for 15hr or 30hr a week spaces in nursery for their 3 or 4 year old, Chelwood Nursery has spaces available. It's in SE4 but very close to Nunhead and easy to get to. A really lovely nursery and it's a shame it's undersubscribed this year (something to do with the 30hrs). Details available online http://www.chelwood.lewisham.sch.uk/

It's probably undersubscribed because it can't afford to offer the 30 hours 'free' funding which was brought in this month.

Childcare providers i.e. nurseries and childminders already provide the 15 hours but some are having difficulty providing a further 'free' 15 hours childcare i.e. 30 hours altogether and they are having to close or thinking of having to close.

I think they are able to provide the free 30 hours - the problem seems to be that parents have been unable to get the necessary approval to get the 30 free hours themselves. Unclear why people haven't applied for the 15 free hours in the meantime though. Chelwood is also a 5 day a week commitment. But it really is a lovely nursery - I'm choosing to not send my younger one to nursery yet (we're doing a summer-born delayed entry), else I would have jumped at this opportunity!

    • I don't know if this is the right section to put this, but if you see anybody sleeping rough in this freezing cold, you can alert an organisation who will help via this link https://thestreetlink.org.uk/ Shelters have been set up in London for them. This is from an email I got today: London has been facing dangerously cold temperatures. For those sleeping rough, this weather can be life-threatening. London’s Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has been activated throughout this week to ensure warm, safe emergency accommodation has been available for those who need it. StreetLink connects people sleeping rough with local outreach teams who assess their needs and offer support services. By making a report, you could save someone’s life.
    • Looks like the flats were built on the same footprint.
    • I'm going to add a fourth recommend for Rob Mills. A while back he did my boiler check and was so much more thorough than the previous boiler engineers I'd used, also taking the time to explain everything he was doing and why, which was extremely reassuring. Then this last weekend, when it was freezing cold,  my boiler stopped working early on Saturday morning and was throwing out error messages that I couldn't resolve. He walked me through various steps to try via text message and resolved the issue for me with no charge. I was incredibly grateful and honestly, highly recommend him.
    • My daughter is trying to find a multi vitamin for my granddaughter who is a very fussy eater. Basically she's living on yoghurt, breadsticks & banana's at the moment. Can anyone recommend a vitamin? Preferably one that's nice tasting if its liquid form. Thank you
