Dear EDF

We are launching a business club at fifty seven, the new private hire events space at 57 North Cross Road.

This is a great working space available to be shared with like-minded business professionals. We have 12 spaces only (in order to offer a good amount of working room) and so can only offer this on a first-come basis.

The Business Club membership fee is ?24.00 per session (4 hours or part thereof). Our sessions will be on a Tuesday morning to start with and, if the demand is there for additional sessions we will look at hosting more sessions each week. Ideally I would like to have sessions booked for a month at a time however I appreciate you must all see if this really works for you (and if the cake is good) so will gladly offer Tuesday 3rd October to those interested here as a trial day but you must email me to express your interest in a place and we will confirm. Don?t forget that places are limited to just 12 guests.

Fifty seven will be offering supported and managed internet, filter Volcano coffee, Birchalls tea and lots of absolutely delicious cake, all of which will be included within your membership.

If this is still of interest then please do email me by return. [email protected]

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read and look forward to hearing from you

Suzanne James

Sorry, should have been clearer, this is not a net working event, it's a space in which to work. If one should form connections then it would brilliant but my intention is not to set up a networking event!

I do hope I have not mislead anyone

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
