Our festival this November takes its subtitle from the new novel by Alan Hollinghurst, The Sparsholt Affair. We are living in turbulent and disturbing times, and more than ever we are turning to our writers to help us navigate them, whether through instruction, conversation, action or protest.

We have events and partnerships throughout the month, from a spooky All Saints? Day conversation between Andrew Michael Hurley and Laura Purcell to a discussion between David Stephenson, Vicar of All Saints Church of West Dulwich, and Catherine Nixey about the role of Christianity in its earliest days.

We have activities and suggestions for all members of the Dulwich community ? talks for children, walks for adults, ?how to? sessions, and a short story competition for schools across Southwark. From national pleasures, including cricket with Henry Blofeld and trainspotting with Simon Jenkins, to local favourites including the much-loved West Norwood Feast, there is something you will want to join in or attend.

With Dulwich College again playing generous hosts for our main weekend (10- 12th November), sessions are also taking place in other venues including a unique evening with Booker-prize nominated Ali Smith at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, talking about her beloved Tove Jansson to complement the new exhibition there.

Please do come along to some or all of the events and celebrate the best that words have to offer, whether as stimulus or balm.
