Hey if your after a local plasterer I would like to recommend Micky Lawless 07930678989. He just completed a skim on a bedroom that we are decorating, very professional and tidy.

Came round on the Friday to make sure everything was ready for the start Monday and he finished on the Wednesday as promised.

Will use again for sure.

Just to add to the above, Micky has just completed a second job for me, the first being some years ago. Micky works to a high standard and makes the minimum of mess - even managing to keep the carpet in the room as clean as it was when he went in, despite having been told I was getting it replaced in a few weeks as part of ongoing works.

Work he has done for me this time has included removing old cornice and ceiling rose, boarding over old dilapidated ceiling and skimming over the board. All looks nice and smooth now ready for the cornice expert to put in new cornice and ceiling rose next week.

In the past he has re-plastered a stairwell which included needing to fix a bodge job done by previous owners of the house who in one place had put hardboard up and papered over instead of plaster-boarding and skimming the wall.

Highly recommended.

I can also highly recommend Micky. He's just completed skimming our living room walls (one of them on a slight curve), bathroom and hallway ceilings.

The standard of work is excellent and reasonably priced - will definitely be calling on Micky again when we redecorate the bedrooms.

Another recommendation for Micky. Recently moved to the area so have been checking this forum for tradesmen. He came round promptly and provided a competitive quote to plaster a bedroom and landing. There was some extra plasterboarding to take care of as i'd removed skirting and chased some cables up a wall but Micky was happy to sort it at no extra charge. A decent, friendly guy

I would also highly recommend Micky for any plastering work. We tried removing the woodchip in our hallway and the walls underneath were in awful shape, with layers of plaster and paper all over the place. It was going to be a big job to fix, we contacted 2 traders who both seemed unenthusiastic about the scale of the job and quoted very high prices. Micky was really friendly and gave us an excellent price, he's a very nice guy and a truly skilled plasterer - the quality of his work was excellent. Would use him again in an instant, thanks again Micky!

    • I remember seeing something a few years ago on TV about a fox that was actually biting through people's shopping / takeaway food bags.  It was situated in an alleyway.  Not in London.  Very interesting in how the  urban foxes brain development has  been affected by their surroundings.   Not an exact quote from Darwin.  It's the adaptable that survive / not the strongest or the most intelligent.   I would be worried if a fox came close me.   Because they might be after my fur babies and they carry a lot of nasties.   Although they look beautiful from a distance or on a 🎄 card.
    • Driving down Lordship lane around 2.45pm today saw a v sick looking fox walking in and out of the crowd.
    • I know I'm a bit premature but don't want to forget through too much Chrisntas cheer! Southwark Council Christmas trees recycling arrangements 2025 - bit worrying for the future that they're emphasising the free bit. "We’ll collect and recycle your real Christmas tree for free!  Trees should not be taller than 5ft. You should chop any taller trees into smaller pieces. Remove all decorations and the pot or stand and recycle it by: putting your tree with your garden waste containers on collection day requesting a free collection if you do not have a garden waste collection  taking it to our Reuse and Recycling Centre [43 Devon Street, SE15 1AL open 08:30-16:30 Mon-Sun] If you live in a flat you must leave the tree: outside on the kerb visible for the collection crew not in a bin store" I'll add the link to the collection booking service when it opens on 22 December.
    • Most homes in East Dulwich / Good Green ward have collections on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. So no changes for them this year.  But for those few local homes with collections normally on Thursdays or Friday, with Christmas, Boxing day happening on Thursday and Friday any blue, brown or green bin collections will be delayed by two days. So Thursday 25 December collections will be on Saturday 27 December and Friday 26 December collections on Sunday 28 December. For New Years day those Thursday collections will be on the Friday 2 January and those with normal collections of Fridays that will be on Saturday 3 January.
