QW1 is a very good quietway but tricky to find from here. It's well signposted but the twists and turns can be hard to follow first time and difficult to memorise in one go. It follows the line of the river with turn off points on the approach roads to all the bridges. You choose which one suits you. We take you to your destination.

We start from outside Nunhead station at 7.45am and pick up riders at Peckham Rye station from the bike stands outside McDonalds at 7.55am. After that it's a pleasant trundle to the river arriving approx 8.30am depending on which bridge you want. The line from Denmark Hill has been stood down for the winter so if you want to start there give me a ring and we will come and get you.

You can phone or text me on 07842 640 207. At this point in the season it's probably best to phone/text ahead. Return rides arranged, maps provided. These rides are run by southwark cyclists who are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. We are mostly members but you don't have to be and we mostly live in Southwark but you don't have to. All welcome and all free.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
