Fuschia
New mother I don't think it's a question of being a killjoyJust there is something a bit distasteful about encouraging wasteful consumerism and the sort of oneupmanship that ends up with 30 party bags given out at schoolI just think it sets a bad example ... I also prefer to spend time and money on a fun party rather than a heap of plastic probably produced in china Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17086-birthdays-and-school/page/2/#findComment-433264 Share on other sites
gwod
Love the seeds idea, you could make a little sheet about planting and watering (with colouring in) etc. Or how about Strawberries for everyone. Party Bags at school is bonkers, (I even think party bags at parties is bonkers!!) dont feel guilty about letting that idea go. ladywotlunches
SG88 - Last year I got some little packs of mixed seeds on 'planting sticks'. they came in a pack a bit like those cardboard matches that you tear off and stick in the soil. They went down well in the party bags. Got them and other stuff from woolworths.co.uk.but this was for the party itself, not for school. E's class will be getting a fairy cake or biscuit each, which is the norm where he is (Fairlawn).
