I've just been sent this info. I hope it belongs in this section, given that extending the bike hire scheme is a hot ED forum issue and it's a chance to gossip...

'Cyclists are invited to come to chat and cycle about cycle issues with Jenny Jones, London Assembly member, tomorrow, Tuesday 10th May.

08:00: Meet at Camberwell Green.

09:30: Cycle to Clapham common (Clapham common/Long road near the Long pond) to meet Wandsworth cyclists.

Potentially explore the soon-to-open CS8 Superhighway route from Wandsworth to Millbank.

12:00: End at City Hall.

Jenny Jones is keen to improve cycling around London, raise cycle awareness and to expand the cycle hire scheme to the same scale (at least) as the Paris Velib. If the London scheme were on the same scale as Paris, Camberwell would be within the area of the scheme.'

Thanks for posting but it's a shame it's a bit too late for most people to read and do anything about :(

I would love to participate but with this much notice there's little i can do at 11pm to change my schedule...

Sorry...

(poor show if you've just been notified of this at this late stage,

could this not be re-arranged to allow more people to do something who wish to show their support??!)

I might also question who this is aimed at helping.

If this is to aid commuters on their run into town (as the majority user)

then surely it would be better to schedule this outside of working hours??

As an LCC member, I'm saddened to see the lack of thought and consideration

that appears to have gone into this campaign. Have the LCC been invited, do

they form part of this consultation?

Please correct me if i have missed something.

    • The MFI was probably where Iceland is now. This post makes me feel very old - went to a 30th birthday party in the garden at the back. Oh to be 30 again!
    • Anyone upgraded their TV for Christmas?! I'm looking for a smallish Smart TV I can use with earbuds. Not more than 56cm high and  25cm deep. A 26" one used to fit.  Thanks!
    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
