Loft Insulation / Building Regs

Hi - I'm looking for some advice on insulating my loft and meeting building regs.

I've got a roofer booked in to renew my roof. But it seems the joists in the loft are too shallow (15mm) to allow for the full 30cm of loft insulation to be laid between them AND provide a support for boards to be fitted to use the loft for storage. I'd rather not got to the trouble of making a new suspended floor in the loft space.

The roofer is recommending using 'aluthermo quattro' Felt on the pitched surfaces of the roof to provide the required level of insulation to meet building regs. But from what I can see online it isnt certified to any BS rating.

Has anyone else had experience of this material? Or a similar situation?

I've looked at compressed polystyrene boards + 100m loft insulation. But I'm not sure if this would meet southwark building regs. Anyone had experience with this kind of thing too?

Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

Could I recommend you look on Southwark Council website and perhaps give someone there a call. I dealt with the planningguys there recently and they were very knowledgeable and spot on. Oh and they also gave me planning permission so still in honeymoon period with them....
