Just for interest in case anyone would like to offer their views to TfL. As a cyclist I feel this would be a terrific incentive for more people to cycle from our neck of the woods to Canary Wharf, and would benefit car drivers (by taking pressure off the Rotherhithe Tunnel and Tower Bridge routes) and those who can't/don't want to cycle by taking pressure off the very crowded commuter public transport routes.

Quite - and this one a) will allow cycling and b) won't allow a private consortium to close it for corporate events, at night etc. If only we had the ?46M wasted on the idiotic Garden Bridge to put towards this one!

Just bumping this thread. For those who don't know, this is a Mayor of London consultation on plans to build a cycling/pedestrian bridge from Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf. Current timetable is for building to begin in 2020, and finish by 2022.

This would make a huge difference to me - improve the cycling commute from East Dulwich to Canary Wharf. Would also help motorists - make road routes less busy with cyclists!

Please fill out the consultation before 8th January if you have views on this: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/rivercrossings/rotherhithe-canarywharf/?cid=r2cw-crossing

Just to let anyone interested in this river crossing know, I've posted some more information on a design for a cycle and pedestrian bridge by local architects reForm /EWP which is ready to go! They started it as a self=start project, got loads of interest and publicity on their scheme and now from the way it is being procured (TfL multidisciplinary frameworks only) , their design may not even be considered. so much for encouraging enterprise and initiative! • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
    • Sorry Sue - me again. This has been on my mind all day, it's a big bug bear of mine. If you don't mind - please can you private message me some of these shops so I can cross reference / add to my AVOID list.  Thanks in advance. Let's make sure this doesn't happen this Christmas, particularly as we head into sales season. Even more problematic in my experience.
