Perhaps I'm the only one who didn't know that Lewisham and Kings are different districts and have no communication with each other. I had an appointment at Lewisham Hospital (a shorter waiting list than Kings) only to have my symptoms dismissed. I was surprised, since I'd had a scan confirming the problem done at Kings. But it seems that notes don't get passed from here to Lewisham, different bits of the NHS

Had I known this, I'd have taken a a paper copy with me.

So I've had nearly a year of the problems because no-one at my GPs or Lewisham saw fit to tell me this simple fact.

In my innocence I thought "Computerised Records" and "21st Century" instead of "Paper records" and "19th century".

I'm so sorry Lynne. That sounds like a very difficult situation - and frustrating to say the least!

But yes. In my experience even different hospitals/clinics in the same district have no sharing of information. I had some split treatment between Kings' and St Thomas' and soon found that they were unable to access each other's scan results. I now carry a file with relevant medical records to every appointment.

Folk who live near the Lewisham border (Wood Vale, Sydenham Hill, Honor Oak Road, Benchley Gardens and also the New Cross end of Peckham) are frequently taken to Lewisham Hospital by ambulance rather than Kings.

I was referred to Guys Hospital for a medical condition rather than Kings - as this was the area's speciality clinic.

Yes I have worked in Lewisham Hospital and all ward notes are in paper files.

Kings and Princess Royal and Orpington share a computerised system (same Trust)

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
