Bike re spray

I have been given a 2nd hand bike by a really kind friend but it?s a bit rusty and would like to get it re sprayed. Does anyone know where I can do this cheaply and locally to not defeat the object of having been given a free bike?!?! Thanks

Bike resprays are pretty pricey (?100 upwards), when I've had old clunkers for commuting I've found just sanding off the worst of the rust and painting the frame with Hammerite does quite nicely. If it's been unused for a long time do make sure the brakes etc are all in good order!

Far better to spend any real money on brakes and tyres, if needed (probably will be if the bike is elderly and has been left out). Wire wool and Hammerite will do you proud.

Don't forget that a nice shiny bike is more likely to attract thieves than one that looks a knocked about .
